DWF in demand on conference circuit
6/16/2010Partners from leading law firm DWF are in demand this month after being lined up to speak at a number of key industry events.
Lawyers from the firm's regulatory team are key note speakers at four transport conferences being hosted by the Road Haulage Association (RHA) and AIRMIC 2010, the Association of Insurance and Risk Managers' annual conference and exhibition. Meanwhile, experts from the company's Insurance team are attending and speaking at the Alarm conference, the public risk management association.
Vikki Woodfine, a transport specialist from DWF, will be addressing vehicle operators at the RHA conferences. She will be discussing graduated fixed penalties and targeted enforcement, as well as drawing on her time working with Lancashire Police and VOSA at a vehicle checkpoint on the M6.
Other speakers at the events include the North West traffic commissioner, Beverley Bell, the head of Northern Ireland's Transport Regulator's Office, Donald Armstrong, and the head of road safety for the Department of the Environment, John Brogan.
Steffan Groch, head of the regulatory team at DWF, will be talking about managing fatal accidents at AIRMIC 2010. Steffan will be looking at the areas of civil and criminal law that come into play when a fatal accident occurs and recent changes in legislation that affect all employers.
The Alarm conference sees Insurance partner Perry Hill take part in "Child's Play", an interactive workshop about claims involving children.
Steffan Groch said: "The team at DWF is at the forefront in the developing area of regulatory law. We are regularly instructed in relation to fatalities and have defended a number of high profile cases.
"We also have unique experience in the transport sector acting for HGV, bus, coach and rail operators.
"We are delighted to be taking part in these high profile conferences and sharing our expertise with delegates, particularly in the current climate where we are witnessing a gradual process of ‘regulatory creep' and stricter enforcement by UK and EU regulatory authorities."
