The home of the red devils became the home of the dare devils on Saturday as intrepid fundraisers abseiled down the dizzy heights of Old Trafford's North Stand.

Marcus Picken from Catalyst Healthcare (Manchester) Ltd was ‘roped' in to abseil the 140ft drop in aid of The Royal Manchester Children's Hospital Charity, whose work helps thousands of children and families every year.

Speaking after the descent Marcus said: "For a brief moment the theatre of dreams turned into a theatre of nightmares but after the initial nerves had settled it was a fantastic experience. I'm not sure I'll ever look at the North Stand in quite the same light.

"The charity helps so many people on a daily basis, so I was more than willing to take the plunge in aid of such a worthwhile cause."

Marcus has so far helped to raise £250 for the charity with more to follow. For more information or to donate, please go to: www.royalmanchesterchildrenshospitalcharity.org.uk
