EIC appoints first chartered surveyor
4/13/2010New lead for mechanical, electrical and building fabric offering

EIC has appointed experienced, chartered quantity surveyor Robert Duggan to take commercial control of its mechanical, electrical and building fabric (MEBF) offering.
Formerly a quantity surveyor for Carillion's facilities management division, Robert, who started his professional life as a buyer, has more than 20 years commercial control experience. His first task for the national building services specialist has been to develop a programme of bespoke costing for all MEBF contracts going forward. By producing a uniform set of costing documents, EIC is aiming to develop a policy of complete transparency across all estimated and formal costing papers so clients will know how their potential spend is broken down.
Robert said: "Raising professional standards is always a priority. EIC is an extremely forward-thinking company that is constantly re-evaluating its professional output and looking for ways in which to improve. It's a very enthusiastic environment to work in. The team has embraced the challenges presented by its full facilities management undertaking and I am now working with all project managers in this field to advise them on professional delivery."
The appointment of the firm's first quantity surveyor has been an important move in support of EIC's evolution from contractor to service provider. Building on its core mechanical and electrical expertise, the midlands-based company can now provide a one-stop-shop building services solution for clients offering everything from design and installation to planned and reactive maintenance.
Ian Lyall, joint managing director of EIC, is delighted to have Robert on board: "Robert's appointment has been crucial to our development as a full building services and facilities management provider as he has brought his expertise in this field into play for us and directed us with the cost control and planning aspects of the business.
We expect him to now play a strong managerial role as we take our MEBF services forward and increase our capacity."
