The Duchy invests in Grade A office space in London
07.11.2011
The Duchy of Lancaster is creating 40,000 sq ft of Grade A
office space in the heart of London with a £9million refurbishment
of Wellington House located on its Savoy estate.
Prominently located on the corner of the Strand and Lancaster
Place, the building was originally constructed in the 1930s and
comprises seven floors, all of which are currently being upgraded
to provide high-quality office accommodation.
Due for completion in July 2012, the refurbishment includes the
demolition and reconstruction of the seventh floor including a new
terrace with views over the river Thames. All of the floor plates
are being reconfigured and made larger to create flexible, open
space throughout.
"This project forms part of our strategy to continuously upgrade
and enhance our Savoy estate," said Paul Clarke, CEO and Clerk of
The Duchy of Lancaster. "It represents a significant investment
which will meet the ever increasing demand for Grade A office space
in central London. We believe that this will be one of only a very
small number of buildings to offer this standard of office
accommodation next year."
The Wellington House project follows the recent refurbishment of
Duchy House on the Strand into student accommodation, which has
been leased to The Courtauld Institute of Art.
