LAPCABBY DELIGHT FOR PRIMARY SCHOOL

24.03.2011

Bromham C of E VC Lower School in Bromham won its LapCabby by entering a prize draw at the educational trade show, BETT 2011, where the latest version of the product was being launched.

The LapCabby Up-Link range, features a Wi-Fi access point that enables the unit to be plugged into a school's local area network (LAN). This range also features a gigabit switch which allows the laptops to remain connected to the LAN even while charging, enabling schools to update software or data on their computers overnight.

More than 18,000 LapCabbys are now used in schools throughout the UK. The product, which was part of Dell's Connected Classroom initiative in China, is also being used in schools across Australia, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Having won their LapCabby, Bromham C of E VC Lower School is now able to transport its laptops from classroom to classroom and safely store and charge them when not in use.

Julie Chapman, ICT coordinator at Bromham C of E VC Lower School, said: "We were looking at purchasing a new trolley as the school is split into two sites and we were finding it difficult to transport laptops between classrooms.

"We were at BETT 2011 to price them and LapCabby really caught our eye as it was as feature rich, robust and secure as others costs two to three times as much.

"We were delighted when our name was drawn and I'm sure the unit will be a permanent fixture in the school for many years to come."

Emma Harrhy, marketing manager at Monarch Education Furniture, said: "More and more primary and secondary schools are replacing their fixed PCs with laptops and netbooks, which is presenting them with storage and charging challenges.

"LapCabby address these challenges which is why we have had such enormous success which the product in both in the UK and overseas markets."

LapCabby is the most cost-effective laptop and netbook computer charging and storage unit in the market today,

The unit houses between ten and 32 laptops and netbooks, and its contemporary external design includes striking ergonomic handles and rubber corner bumpers that protect the unit, the classroom and the laptops.

Innovative features of LapCabby include a Green power management system, high security dual locking and locks at the top of the unit to prevent keys snapping when the device is bumped into walls.

LapCabby's cable management and power system is housed in a separate compartment to keep it well away from children, providing a level of safety beyond that of other products in the market.
