Bromham C of E VC Lower School in Bromham won its LapCabby by
entering a prize draw at the educational trade show, BETT 2011,
where the latest version of the product was being launched.
The LapCabby Up-Link range, features a Wi-Fi access point that
enables the unit to be plugged into a school's local area network
(LAN). This range also features a gigabit switch which allows the
laptops to remain connected to the LAN even while charging,
enabling schools to update software or data on their computers
overnight.
More than 18,000 LapCabbys are now used in schools throughout the
UK. The product, which was part of Dell's Connected Classroom
initiative in China, is also being used in schools across
Australia, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
Having won their LapCabby, Bromham C of E VC Lower School is now
able to transport its laptops from classroom to classroom and
safely store and charge them when not in use.
Julie Chapman, ICT coordinator at Bromham C of E VC Lower School,
said: "We were looking at purchasing a new trolley as the school is
split into two sites and we were finding it difficult to transport
laptops between classrooms.
"We were at BETT 2011 to price them and LapCabby really caught our
eye as it was as feature rich, robust and secure as others costs
two to three times as much.
"We were delighted when our name was drawn and I'm sure the unit
will be a permanent fixture in the school for many years to
come."
Emma Harrhy, marketing manager at Monarch Education Furniture,
said: "More and more primary and secondary schools are replacing

The unit houses between ten and 32 laptops and netbooks, and its

to prevent keys snapping when the device is bumped into
walls.
