NEW MD FOR PORTVIEW
15.06.2011
After 28 years at the helm, 57-year old Alan
Davison is to step down from his position as Managing Director of
Portview Fit-Out Limited.
During his tenure, Alan and his co-directors built a successful
reputation and an enviable commercial track record, taking the
company from £3m turnover in 1983 to £23.75m turnover in
2010/11. Hands-on and customer-facing throughout his career,
Alan has been seeking to retire from the business and has now sold
his shareholding to fellow directors Sean McEvoy, Paul Scullion and
Simon Campbell.
Simon Campbell, who has been with Portview since 1995, latterly as
Group Finance Director, takes over the reins as Managing Director
with immediate effect.
An economics graduate from Bristol University, Simon
completed
Midland Bank's 2-year Management Development Programme in retail
after graduation, before returning to Northern Ireland where he
trained with Ernst & Young. An award-winning student, at the
end of the programme, Simon joined Portview Construction Ltd as
Financial Controller in 1994. A decade later, he had built up a
significant shareholding and spearheaded the rebranding and
repositioning of the company as Portview Fit-Out Ltd.
Portview celebrated its best ever financial performance last year,
with an annual turnover of almost £24m.
Commenting on Alan's retirement, Simon said: "Alan has done an
excellent job over the last 28 years and I and my fellow directors
have enjoyed working with
him to help develop our offering. The four of us have worked very
closely together - particularly in recent years to drive a new
strategic vision into all areas of the business. We wish Alan the
long and happy retirement he deserves and look forward to taking
Portview forward to the next stage."
As well as overseeing all financial aspects of the company's
operations, Simon is also responsible for HR, IT, Health &
Safety, Quality, Environmental, Business Continuity Management and
the Sales and Marketing teams across the business. In 2010 he took
part in the Institute of Directors Company Direction Programme and
became the only person in the UK to have gained a distinction in at
both Diploma and Certificate levels.
Married with three young children, Simon lives in Belfast and is a
keen middle distance runner, having represented his club,
university and even Northern Ireland in his mid-20s. He hopes to
complete the gruelling 2-day endurance test, the Mourne Mountain
Marathon, in September this year.
