CEO Views on Reputation Management
In mid-2004 Kevin Murray and
Jon White undertook a study amongst Chief Executive
Officers and Chairmen from major UK and international organisations
in order to determine what CEOs perceive to be the value of public
relations, their own role in reputation management and how they
assess the contribution that public relations makes to their overall
business and organisational performance.
This study was conducted initially for presentation
at an international research symposium. The results are presented
here for wider distribution because we believe there are important
conclusions for senior management and public relations practitioners.
These primarily have to do with the level of commitment
to, and investment in, the management of important relationships,
the qualifications and abilities of those providing advice in public
relations, the evaluation of public
relations activities, and the changing demands being made on business
and organisation leaders.
We hope you find this report a useful contribution to the wider
debate on the continuing development of public relations.
This site offers an introduction to our findings.
The full report contains extensive quotes from the 14 CEO's and
Chairmen, drawn from the taped interviews, giving insights into
their points of view on reputation management.
